January Drawing Classes

Happy New Year!

Long Pose Figure Drawing starts Sunday evening Jan. 15th. 

Portrait Drawing Class starts Thursday evening Jan. 19th.

Portrait Drawing for Youth age 11-17 starts Monday afternoon Jan. 16th.

 

Youth Portrait Drawing Class

I'm teaching a 8 week Youth Portrait Drawing Class at my school in Victoria. The class starts Oct. 17th. Monday afternoons 4:15 to 5:45pm.

Class for youth age 11-17. Noah will teach classical techniques for drawing a realistic portrait. Noah will teach the use of plumb lines, comparative measurement, and tilt angle to find correct proportions. Working from a live clothed model, students will learn about ways to start a drawing, how to see and record shapes clearly and simply, and model form by carefully observing the properties of light. 

Lots of demos and individual instruction!
All levels of experience welcome, small class size.

September Classes!

I've organized my September teaching schedule for my school Noah Layne Academy of Realist Art in Victoria BC. I'm looking forward to getting things rolling again this Fall!

Portrait Drawing starts Sept. 10th, Thursdays 6:30-9:30pm
Come draw the beauty of the portrait.

Block-in Figure Drawing starts Sept. 13th, Sundays 6-9pm
The block in is a very important step in drawing well, it's the foundation and core that everything is built upon.

Youth Portrait Drawing starts Sept. 14th, Mondays 4:15 to 5:45pm
For youth age 11-17. If you know of someone this age who is looking for a focused, skill based drawing class please feel free to pass this info on to them.

Cast Drawing starts Sept. 14th, Mondays 6-9pm and Thursdays 2-5pm
Great way to really learn and develop your drawing and ability to see.

Alla Prima Oil Portrait Painting Class starts Sept. 20th, Sunday afternoons 1:30-5pm.
Alla Prima means paintings done in one session. You will work on a new painting each class.

Talking about Form and Cast shadows

The importance of looking at your work in a mirror, also good for checking out how good you look ;) There is a story there for sure....

How our eyes fool us all the time with this optical illusion 

And the magic bowl for warding of aliens and showing form light and highlights

The model may need a break but I keep going, or sometimes it's time to take over and do it all, model, draw, and fly the airplane home

Using mats with holes in them to isolate value and compare them. Light on the chin compared to forehead, which is lighter??

How the placement of the ear relates to the tilt of the head. Or what is this thing on my head, it was not there this morning?
